Green

Green is the colour of renewal& hope- a metaphor for freshness in the collective imagination.
Green symbolizes many things in different cultures.
Green is the primary colour of the landscape.
Green is the colour that magically apears when nature emerges out of its gray -brown to life again.

Bouquets

Flowers should fill us with harmony & take us on a path to a place without prejudice and boundaries. All flowers are created equal.
Nature proposes - the eye disposes.
We need only to know how to look at the plant world , how to respect the uniqueness of species & to accept their natural tendencies,
We mustn't force them , but reveal them.
We mustn't change their nature , spruce them up.
We must awaken them.
There are the ceremonial bouquets made purely for display slightly arrogant,
There are the bouquet without preconceived notions which reminds us of a moment.
A bouquets value has nothing to do with its size or shape .
Finally extreme simplicity is the peak of sophistication .
The bouquet has to reveal emotion - balance - grace.

Today is Mothers Day.....on my way to have lunch with my family it was lovely to see people carrying flowers , mostly bouquets bought from supermarkets, still our city looked beautiful with all the colourful flowers,In europe you see more flowers on the street than here.maybe we are not that much connected to flowers.

The language of flowers

Today we will talk about Tulips
Wild tulips are native to Persia & Turkey
In Persia to give a red Tulip was to declare your love.
1593 a botanist named Carlos Clusius arrived in Holland with his collections of bulbs from Turkey & Persia_the Tulip. THe word tulip is coming from the Turkish word for turban (tuelbent),so called because of the shape of its bloom.I Holland the tulip was a sensation and become very popular.
To give a yellow tulip is to declare your love hopelessly and utterly.

Flowerpower

In our literature of love we have woven flowers into myths & stories and given them meanings.
We have presented them to one another, found beauty in their blooms.
We have taken flowers as emblems & composed of them our own language.
Since ancient times we put magical powers in them especially in the matter of love.
I will quote for you every day a flowers power............lets start with : Peony
The peony grants its recipient the power to keep a secret .
In it tightly closed petals ,nymphs could hide.
A deep rooted plant peony stands firm in the earth.
A peony is reputed to enhance the power of a promise.
Peony symbolizes prosperity.

Fun With Holiday Ornaments

We have been embracing the holiday spirit in our floral arrangements lately. I have been hiding ornaments amidst the flowers and greens so that our clients can find a sparkling surprise this season. Here is a sample of my favorite ornaments. 

Holiday Party Floral Arrangement

The last couple weeks have been filled with holiday parties. I've been adding ornaments to my arrangements in order to add a little sparkle to the floral arrangements.

White Flowers Wedding Bouquet

I was really happy with the wedding bouquet we created this Saturday. The bouquet was traditionally white but the flowers were very diverse. We filled our beautiful bride's bouquet with peonies, roses, and calla lilies.

Our Thanksgiving Centerpiece

My family celebrates Thanksgiving at my sister's house. Every year she makes all the food and I bring the centerpiece. This arrangement works out beautifully in my favor.

Floral Design for Room to Read's Gala

Last week we had the pleasure of sponsoring flowers for Room to Read SF Chapter's 10th Anniversary Gala silent auction.This is a great organization to support as Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. A Bleeding Heart

Being a florist provides a privilege to participate in other people’s memorable moments. Often we get to highlight a union, new birth, and other joyous moments with our floral designs. Sometimes flowers are ordered to ease the pain of a passing. Creating floral arrangements for clients is hard because you work hard to create a floral arrangement that you want to attempt to commiserate someone’s loss. However, it is even more challenging when it is someone you know. Yesterday we made floral arrangements for our dear friend who recently passed away from cancer. I remember just 15 years ago creating flowers for his wedding to my best friend. It was very emotional for me to do his funeral flowers, especially the bleeding heart arrangement ordered by his loving nephews and nieces. The white roses are symbolic of one of the purest hearts I have had the pleasure of knowing. 

Halloween 2010 Flower Centerpiece

We made these really amazing floral centerpieces in black vases for a Halloween Luncheon last week and then I took these really amazingly poor quality pictures of the centerpieces. So, you will have to take our word that the floral arrangements were spooky awesome.

Fall Corporate Floral Arrangement

We are trying new types of flowers, like these gingers, in our weekly corporate arrangements to spice up our client's office. We know how hard Monday mornings are. Hopefully these flowers will inspire our clients to embrace the uniqueness of each day.

2011 Summer Wedding Floral Inspiration

While the last couple of days have been cold in San Francisco, we have been keeping warm at Seti Design with summer 2011 wedding brainstorming sessions. We want to share some floral wedding ideas with our summer couples. One of our most popular wedding blog posts is a summer wedding in San Francisco where we turned the Green Room to yellow. The blog post doesn't include all the beautiful floral pictures taken by Anna Kuperberg, so I wanted to share some of my favorites here. Fall 2010 Wedding Arch

It was just six months ago that Alia came to Seti Design to discuss her fall wedding. She envisioned her favorite flowers in the wedding which included her own garden grown succulents. We wanted to incorporate her organic, local grown floral vision in the wedding arch as well. We filled the arch with green curly willows, moss balls, garden grown succulents and nosegays of  safflowers, orange dahlias, and zinnias. Here is a close up of our fall cornucopia!
