Today is Mothers Day.....on my way to have lunch with my family it was lovely to see people carrying flowers , mostly bouquets bought from supermarkets, still our city looked beautiful with all the colourful flowers,In europe you see more flowers on the street than here.maybe we are not that much connected to flowers.

Today we will talk about Tulips
Wild tulips are native to Persia & Turkey
In Persia to give a red Tulip was to declare your love.
1593 a botanist named Carlos Clusius arrived in Holland with his collections of bulbs from Turkey & Persia_the Tulip. THe word tulip is coming from the Turkish word for turban (tuelbent),so called because of the shape of its bloom.I Holland the tulip was a sensation and become very popular.
To give a yellow tulip is to declare your love hopelessly and utterly.

Flowerpower

In our literature of love we have woven flowers into myths & stories and given them meanings.
We have presented them to one another, found beauty in their blooms.
We have taken flowers as emblems & composed of them our own language.
Since ancient times we put magical powers in them especially in the matter of love.

The peony grants its recipient the power to keep a secret .
In it tightly closed petals ,nymphs could hide.
A deep rooted plant peony stands firm in the earth.
A peony is reputed to enhance the power of a promise.
Peony symbolizes prosperity.
