White Flowers Wedding Bouquet
I was really happy with the wedding bouquet we created this Saturday. The bouquet was traditionally white but the flowers were very diverse. We filled our beautiful bride's bouquet with peonies, roses, and calla lilies.

Floral Design for Room to Read's Gala
Last week we had the pleasure of sponsoring flowers for Room to Read SF Chapter's 10th Anniversary Gala silent auction. This is a great organization to support as Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. To learn about the amazing story of the inception of this organization, you should read Leaving Microsoft to Change the World: An Entrepreneur's Odyssey to Educate the World's Children. A Bleeding Heart
Being a florist provides a privilege to participate in other people’s memorable moments. Often we get to highlight a union, new birth, and other joyous moments with our floral designs. Sometimes flowers are ordered to ease the pain of a passing. Creating floral arrangements for clients is hard because you work hard to create a floral arrangement that you want to attempt to commiserate someone’s loss. However, it is even more challenging when it is someone you know. Yesterday we made floral arrangements for our dear friend who recently passed away from cancer. I remember just 15 years ago creating flowers for his wedding to my best friend. It was very emotional for me to do his funeral flowers, especially the bleeding heart arrangement ordered by his loving nephews and nieces. The white roses are symbolic of one of the purest hearts I have had the pleasure of knowing.

Halloween 2010 Flower Centerpiece
We made these really amazing floral centerpieces in black vases for a Halloween Luncheon last week and then I took these really amazingly poor quality pictures of the centerpieces. So, you will have to take our word that the floral arrangements were spooky awesome.

2011 Summer Wedding Floral Inspiration
While the last couple of days have been cold in San Francisco, we have been keeping warm at Seti Design with summer 2011 wedding brainstorming sessions. We want to share some floral wedding ideas with our summer couples. One of our most popular wedding blog posts is a summer wedding in San Francisco where we turned the Green Room to yellow. The blog post doesn't include all the beautiful floral pictures taken by Anna Kuperberg, so I wanted to share some of my favorites here. This is for all the couples starting to planning their summer wedding. For more inspiration, please see the full album here.

Fall 2010 Wedding Arch
It was just six months ago that Alia came to Seti Design to discuss her fall wedding. She envisioned her favorite flowers in the wedding which included her own garden grown succulents. We wanted to incorporate her organic, local grown floral vision in the wedding arch as well. We filled the arch with green curly willows, moss balls, garden grown succulents and nosegays of safflowers, orange dahlias, and zinnias. Here is a close up of our fall cornucopia!
For more pictures from the wedding, check out our album on Facebook.

Modern White Floral Arrangement
I originally created this as a sample for a wedding arrangement but I think that it may be too modern for most weddings. I really love the combination of different flowers with plants.

Today is officially the first day of Fall. To celebrate the commencement of my favorite season, I picked up lots of flowers that reflect the deep, warm colors of the season. I played around with all the flowers, branches, and leaves to create the above arrangements for one of client's office. I hope these arrangements warmed up their office.

Spring Wedding

Last month I had the opportunity to create floral arrangements for a spring wedding. Since fresh fruits are one of the joys of spring, I decided to use lemons in the arrangements. The lemons added a touch of freshness and brightness to the arrangements. I was very happy with the coloring. Unfortunately, somehow my daughter added a touch of pink hue to all the pictures that I took. Despite the pinkness, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

The Colors of India

This week we got a floral order for an Indian luncheon. I wanted to create arrangements that reflect the rich hues of Indian culture. I became more familiar with this rich and diverse culture through my youngest daughter’s travel stories. She spent a little bit of time traveling throughout India last year and she shared with me a lot of stories and pictures. These photos and stories allowed me to vicariously travel through this colorful country with her. Her photos had so many vibrant hues of orange, pink and saffron in them that the people and things in the pictures seemed to come to life for me. Because of this, I wanted to create very lively arrangements that reflected what I saw through her travels.

We want to make Valentine's Day Special For You!
This is the most significant time in the flower business. In the last week we have been busy taking orders and preparing arrangements for our clients. What our clients don't see when they get these lovely arrangements is all the people who made this happen. These flowers are handled with care from the growers to our studio until they are presented to the people who are loved by their partners, friends and family. We feel very fortunate to be able to contribute in this process. We wish you a Happy Valentine's Day!

We're Ready for 2010!
The end of 2009 went by in a flash. I was busy with decorating my clients' businesses for the holidays and creating beautiful gift baskets for them. I also managed to have some time to celebrate my birthday and the holidays with my grandkids in Tahoe.
Now I am back and ready to embrace 2010 as it brings many occasions to celebrate with beautiful flowers. Because the winter months do not give us the opportunity to incorporate fresh local flowers in our designs, we decided not to pick a flower of the month for January but instead pick not riped green raspberries as shown in the arrangements below. The raspberries are from our neighbor state farms in Oregon.
These lovely arrangements were made for a corporate event at Hampton Inn Hotel in San Francisco. We chose green and white flowers and greens to reflect the winter colors we see in nature.
